Richmond, Virginia native Sam Reed sharpened her buoyant alto voice in her father’s church choir before emerging on the city’s indie scene with genre-blending collective Dance Candy. Her 2016 debut, "This Is Love," is a 12-track reflection on the highs and difficult lessons of relationships. Richmond Magazine praised the album for its "passion and pain," highlighting Reed's vibrant alto voice and thoughtful songwriting, which is inspired by everyday experiences such as kitchen melodies, changing clouds, and honest conversations about the complexities of love.
