Roots

Ivory-Coast keyboardist & producer Georges “Kouakou” Kouao co-arranged Alpha Blondy’s breakthrough Jah Glory, co-founded Blondy’s Solar System band, and produced classics like Jerusalem and Cocody Rock, touring Africa, Europe, and Jamaica with Bob Marley’s Wailers. He went on to helm sessions for leading Ivorian artists such as Ismaël Isaac and Serges Kassy before relocating to the U.S. in 1991, where he performed and recorded with The Wailers, Culture, Burning Spear, Yellowman, and Rita Marley. Today, he continues session work from Virginia in partnership with engineer Jim Fox at Lion & Fox Studios.
