Englishman (Ras Shango) scored a #1 London reggae hit with “Jah Feeling” (Revelations, 1975) before touring the United States with Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus and later recording or performing alongside Gregory Isaacs, Black Uhuru, The Wailers, Culture, Yellowman, and dozens more roots icons. Settling in Washington, DC, he launched Mighty Roots Inc./Shango Productions, releasing 20 albums and earning nine Washington Reggae Awards spanning best band, producer, songwriter, vocalist, and instrumentalist. Still active as bassist, singer, and producer, the Englishman continues to mentor emerging artists while issuing new material.
Englishman roots Burning Fire’s live riddim like a true Lion of Judah, and guides like a true elder - so the music rise up in word, sound, and power.
